Devotion

Without You

As I was doing my devotion this morning this song kept popping into my head so I of course found it on my phone and pushed play. Shane & Shane Without You. The lyrics that always pull at my heart strings are, “Here I am I’m calling out Father can You here me, can You hear me? I don’t want to go without You. Here I am can You talk a little louder so I can hear You, I want to hear You. I don’t want to move without You.”

Don’t you so desperately sometimes just want to HEAR God and know EXACTLY what he wants you to do? You’re on your knees, hands up in the air like Here I am I’m calling out to You! Can You hear me? I want to hear you! The funny thing is we all want this big sign from God, but God just wants us to pay attention to what He places right in front of us. Our simple devotions in the morning, the little things he puts into our heads like this song this morning. He’s talking to you ALL day long and sometimes the busyness of life gets in the way of us hearing him. He’s not going to speak to you directly, but if you pay attention you will hear him. He speaks to you through his Word, through songs, through people even. Those little thoughts that always pop into your head that’s God, speaking to YOU! How amazing is that? All you need to do is listen. Are you listening for God today?

Take Care of Your Body

I am currently reading “You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream” by Holly Gerth.  Great book by the way!  This morning as I was reading a chapter How to Stop Sabotaging Yourself. She talks about taking care of your body, how ironic right?!  This sentence stood out to me. “When we make poor food choices, ignore exercise, and don’t get enough rest, then we flip ourselves into living out a stress response.  That makes it much harder to hear God’s voice, love those around us and effectively pursue the God-sized dreams in our hearts.”  HOW TRUE RIGHT?! How can we hear God’s voice if we’re living in a stress response mode?  If we don’t take care of our bodies we can’t live up to our true potential because we’re running on fumes.  We can’t love those around us because we don’t love ourselves!  You have to take care of yourself if you want to be able to live out your God-sized dream whatever that dream is!

So, commit to getting 7-10 hours of sleep. Eat healthy! It doesn’t have to be complicated, keep it simple and most importantly get moving!  Even if you only take a 30 minute walk in the evenings, it’s a start. Oh and follow my blog so you can keep up with my recipes, workout tips, etc. 🙂 FullSizeRender (5)

Welcome!!

This is my very first blog post of living fit adventures. If you haven’t made your way to my Meet Tamara page go check that out and you can read a little bit more about me and my fitness journey thus far. I am super excited to get this going and let you all in on my fitness adventures and let me tell you it’s an adventure. My whole life is one crazy, busy, try to do everything, I feel like I am super woman, but not really when the end of the day hits me kind of life. That’s when I take a serious whole day of doing absolutely nothing so I can regroup. I am or so that’s what “they” call it (whoever they are) an extroverted introvert. So, I am quiet, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to talk (ask any of my really good friends they’ll tell you I never shut up). I’d rather hang out one on one instead of in a big group. I read this one and debated if I should post it or not, but we suck at responding to text because sometimes we don’t want to talk. That’s so awful! lol but so true. We’re open to meeting new people just let me know ahead of time so I can mentally prepare to socialize hahah. Tell me I am not the only person who needs to prepare mentally to be social!? Anyone? No one? Which goes with it’s hard to get us to want to go out, but once we get out we have a good time. There’s many other things, but I don’t want to bore you with that.

Back to my health and fitness journey. I not only want to help equip you with a strong body, but a strong body for Christ. My whole vision and the reason for this blog is centered around the Proverbs 31 woman and specifically verse 17. I like the translation that says, “She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong”. We not only have to be strong in our bodies, but strong in our faith so we can go out and live our God given talents whatever that may be. So, join me on my fitness adventures and not only get strong arms, but dress yourself with strength to stand up to the enemies out there trying to bring you down.
